Three Things About Sports 2/19

Posted: February 19, 2011 in Uncategorized

Of my blog I have been absent of as of late, and I promise to bring sports coverage in bunches this weekend!  To start it off, I will recap four things that have occurred in the sports world recently!

  1. I knew they could do it! Speaking of the end of absence, Depaul wins its first Big East game in more than twenty straight match-ups! While it was over Providence, it was still an amazing Big East road win, in a game that the Blue Demons led almost the whole time.  After leading by ten at the half, Providence came close to taking over, albeit Depaul prevailed, winning 79-76. Purnell is one heck of a coach, his team seriously never gives up! Kelly led Depaul in scoring, with 23, as freshman Melvin chimed in 23 of his own.
  2. Rose drops 42 on MJ….‘s Birthday! Hahaha! As impressive as Derrick’s career high 42 points is, the win over the Spurs is far more important.  The Bulls knocked off the league-leading Spurs in little contest, 109-99. Often times when someone puts up that many points they see a drop off in assists, albeit Derrick did not with eight!  What a player!
  3. Down goes Texas, down goes Pittsburgh! I will take a brief hiatus from talking about the Pitt. game, in saying that earlier today the Corn Huskers knocked up number three 70-67.  St. Johns led the whole game, except when it mattered, with three seconds left, number four ranked Pittsburgh led host Red Storm by one.  Hardy, who I think is the most underrated player in college sports, would have none of this and hit a game winning lay up. St. John’s storms on.
