As I was watching the Bulls stage a miraculous comeback against the division-leading, star studded, Heat, an idea came to me…. After about two seconds of thinking, I conjectured that to improve my blog, I should involve the users more! Maybe add an extra poll here, or an extra poll there…. Honestly, the comments are rather low, seeing as most viewers are non-wordpress members.  Regardless, this right here, is the finished project, where viewers can vote on what their favorite song of the week is!

NOTE: Most of these songs will be of Pop or Hip Hop origin, and will be recently released! Also, images come from Swagbucks.com, not all are official cover art!

  1. I Need A Doctor, Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Skylar Grey The powerful trio performed this song at the Grammy Awards, in what is the favorite to win this week!  The music video just released a few hours ago on MTV….. Eminem and Dr. Dre prove why they are the top rapping duo in the game, albeit whether or not they are the top duo in this post, remains to be seen! Surprisingly, my vote will not be cast to Eminem, who remains my favorite rapper!
  2. Words I Never Said, Lupe Fiasco and Skylar Grey This right here is the single in which I cast my vote to!  Much like I Need A Doctor, I have a whole article just praising Lupe Fiasco and the Words He Never Said!  The political bashing lyrics, Skylar’s mellifluous tone during the hook, and the beat, combine to win my vote!
  3. E.T. Katy Perry and Kanye WestKaty Perry’s newest single is yet to storm the radio’s, per se, it was just released a few days ago, I fully expect this to be the number one song in America!  Because everysong Katy puts out makes it big, this one will be no exception.  She sounds great, and as a rap fan… I love this song, even though my dismay is great with Kanye, who seemingly had the auto tune on for both of his verses.  Katy Perry is the reason this song makes this list!
  4. Born This Way by Lady Gaga Impressive vocals are displayed by Gaga in this fan favorite!  In case you have lived as a recluse these past two weeks and are yet to turn on a radio, Gaga sings  about being Born The Way she is, and consciously refers to God numerous times.  If this song wins the poll, I will have no shock, at all.  Gaga fans indeed come in large masses, likewise, this song will give The Dre/Eminem col-lab a run for its money!

Always purchase music through authorized retailers

I am not doing four things about sports today, per say this is exactly what is replacing it! I was outraged at the “Best New Artist” award as well as the “Album Of The Year” and “Record of the Year” awards, I have never, ever, felt this strong about a music related topic before in my life! This post in my view is a must read!

  1. Justin Bieber, Drake, nominated for best new artist, and get dethroned! I would love it for you guys to comment on this and explain to me how both of these two artists got snubbed! It makes no sense at all, if you look up the word “nonsense” in the thesaurus, I bet you that it will read “see 53rd Gammy Awards!”. Kanye’s song puts it best ” I mean this stuff if freakin ridiculous!” The song has no relation to the Grammy Awards, albeit it should! Speaking of Kanye, I wish so badly that he would’ve interrupted Esperanza Spalding and/or Arcade Fire…. The only words I can muscle up are “at least Eminem performed” Kanye tweeted it best “D@*n… I can’t find the words to explain how I feel about the best new artist award… Don’t wanna say the wrong thing”
  2. Eminem Rips Up Stage! Joined along side by Rihanna, Dr. Dre, and Skylar Grey, Eminem had the best performance of his life, in what I like to call “the whole reason I watched the Grammy awards!” I was so happy that he performed to perfection, you could see his veins popping out of his face like the seems on a baseball. Unlike many stars, Eminem never lip sings, henceforth I pray that he goes on a nation-wide tour! Please Marshall! Dear Eminem, you deserved all ten awards you were nominated for! As a writer, bias is supposed to not show, albeit its a strong opinion of mine that he is the king of music.
  3. The biggest hoax of all time, Arcade Fire wins album of the year! If I have to use a thousand words to convince my readers that they did not deserve album of the year, then I will. Eminem, Katy Perry, or even Lady Gaga deserved this award. I feel like writing the Academy who decides these awards and giving them a piece of my opinion! No matter how redundant it gets, because the enigma of how they won has perplexed me ever since they opened the envelope! Eminem had the number one selling album of the year, and I am more than sure Arcade Fire was not even top ten. Not that the numbers are a factor, but they should have some force! When deciding the seeds for College Basketball on Selection Sunday, its a number game! Not a “well these folks have never won before”! You don’t give Southeast Missouri State a number one seed because it would change the flow of things! Why give Arcade Fire the Grammy! Ahhhh, its just insanity, how someone could be so discluded from society as to where they think Arcade Fire>Eminem, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga! Man, they really got this one wrong! Eminem, I know the chances of you reading this are more minuscule than that of winning fourteen straight NBA Championships, but if you are, please know that the public’s overwhelming opinion is that you deserved a handful of awards last night!

Eminem should cross arms as he gets snubbed at Grammy Awards!

I apologize for the unkind bashing, contrary that is just what I believe you deserve. NOTE: I also believe that a few songs deserved song of the year more than Need You Now did.

In this post, I will only pick winners, and not give explanations! These are so hard to pick because all the songs are soooo good! For an extended preview of the ALBUM OF THE YEAR, I will refrain you to here: https://jacobsports.wordpress.com/2011/02/13/album-of-the-year-preview/

Its Grammy Sunday, rivaled by only the Super Bowl for the most exciting Sunday of the year!  Here at Jacob’s Sports we break-down the nominations of the album of the year, and give you our prediction!

Teenage Dream, by Katy Perry In what certainly is one of the most sang along to pop album of the year, Katy Perry joins other California Girls while she lives her Teenage Dream at the 53rd Grammy Awards!  This album was one of the top five sellers of the year!  Will the Fireworks go off for Katy Perry?  Will she win this award?  If this was based on radio plays, honestly she could win it, its hard to find a major radio station not playing “California Girls”, “Teenage Dream”, or “Firework” at any given moment!  Perry has a good as chance of any for bringing home the trophy!

Recovery, by Eminem If I were to tell you this is not my favorite album of all time, you’d be saying “I love the way you lie”, because personally I believe this album deserves to soldify Em’s return to rap, and give him the trophy!  That is why, this is my pick for album of the year!  It features Kobe, Lil Wayne, Pink, Rihanna & Slaughterhouse, and features an all-star line-up of producers, including Dr. Dre.  My favorite track off this album rarely sees any air time, and is title “Talking To Myself”, if you have time, go check it out!

Tracklisting for Lady GaGa's 'The Fame: Monster'The Fame Monster, by Lady Gaga The main reason this has slipped out of discussion is because it came out such a long time ago and its songs rarely are played anymore!  Telephone, featuring Beyonce is amongst of slew of other hits including, Alejandro, Bad Romance, and Monster.  This is the album that is on few predictors radar, but has the opportunity to win big!

The Suburbs, by Arcade Fire Now I am not going to be like all the other guys and act as if I know anything about this album, because I do not.  None of us over here do.  I do not want to go on youtube, type it in and listen to the songs because if none of us have ever heard of this album, it will not win.  Do not even bother with this one folks, seeing as it will not win!

Need You Now, by Lady Antebellum I believe Need You Now was number one on iTunes for many of weeks, but other than that, non-country fans know little about this album.  We all know the melody from the hit Need You Now, albeit this album does not prove much depth, and for that reason I do not think it will win!  Great song though!

My Pick: Eminem Recovery!

Music Review: I Need A Doctor

Currently atop the iTunes chart, is a song produced by Alex Da Kid and Dr. Dre, its Dre’s first single off Detox, featuring Eminem and Skylar Grey.  For those of you who have not heard it, I can probably put the whole thing into a nutshell.

First off, I’d like to give props to Skylar Grey, who has sounded brilliant once again, she’s the girl who sang this chorus, along with Diddy’s I’m Coming Home.  She deserves a Grammy sometime, because her voice is more mellifluous than everyone’s.  They are just pale in comparison.

What struck me as odd, is Eminem got two verse, and Dre only got one.  Eminem raps about how his mentor, Dr. Dre, really needs to wake up and put out some music.  He also thanks him numerous times “you picked me up, breathed new life in me” and “I don’t think you realize what you mean to me, not the slightest clue”, all in all, Eminem hit another high note, which is all he’s hit since the release of Recovery.

Dr. Dre with best friend, fellow rapper, Marshall Mathers

When will Detox drop? Eminem raps about how Dre needs to step it up, and that’s just about what he does in his closing verse, which I didn’t appreciate at first.  Dr. Dre will forever be a legend, but at the very end he says “one more CD, and then I am packing up my bags.” I hope that is just a figure of speech.

Dr. Dre said that Detox will drop on 4/20, albeit his associate denied all talks of that, I guess we’ll have to wait and see.  I give this song a 9/10, seeing as it was indeed amazing, but Dre’s verse just wasn’t “great” for me.
